Graze

Privacy policy

Last updated 26 August 2026 · applies to Graze: Near Miss for iOS and this website

Graze is made by Createful. The short version: the game has no accounts, and we never see your name, email or payment details. Your progress lives on your device and in your own iCloud. The data that does leave it goes to two service providers, as described below: Google (ads, analytics and crash reports) and Apple (leaderboards, purchases and iCloud backup).

What stays on your device and in your iCloud

  • Your scores, coins, ship parts, settings and daily-challenge history are stored locally on your device.
  • A small copy of your progress is kept in your own iCloud account (Apple's key-value storage), so a new phone or a reinstall gets your bests and coins back. We can't read it. It lives with your Apple ID, not with us.
  • Deleting the app deletes the local copy. The iCloud copy fades when no device uses it any more.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Graze shows ads through Google AdMob, including optional rewarded videos you choose to watch. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect:

  • Device identifiers, including the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt
  • Coarse location derived from your IP address (country or region)
  • Ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown and tapped

If you decline tracking, ads still work. They're just not personalised. In regions covered by GDPR, a consent form is shown before any ad request is made. How Google uses this data is described in Google's partner sites policy.

Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the game is played (which screens are used, how runs end, which features are ignored) and Firebase Crashlytics to hear about crashes so we can fix them. This involves:

  • Usage events (screens viewed, buttons tapped, run statistics)
  • An app-instance identifier and general device information (model, OS version, language)
  • A record that an in-app purchase occurred (never card details)
  • If the app crashes: a stack trace and the device state at that moment

Both follow the choices you make in the tracking and consent prompts, and both can be switched off any time with the single toggle in the game's Settings → Privacy.

Leaderboards and purchases (Apple)

  • Game Center: if you're signed in, your scores are submitted to Apple's leaderboards under your Game Center profile, governed by Apple's privacy policy.
  • In-app purchases: handled entirely by Apple. We receive confirmation that a purchase happened, never your payment details.

Your choices

  • Tracking: allow or revoke any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Declining keeps ads non-personalised.
  • Analytics and crash reports: one toggle in the game's Settings → Privacy switches both off, on every install.
  • Ad consent (GDPR regions): your consent choices can be changed from the form shown in the app.
  • Fewer ads: the Remove Ads purchase stops interstitial ads entirely. Rewarded videos remain available because they're always opt-in.
  • Delete everything: deleting the app removes all locally stored progress.

Younger players

Graze is made for everyone. It's a game about nerve and timing, there's nothing in it we'd keep a ten-year-old away from, and we're glad when younger players find it.

It isn't a game built specifically for children, and we don't go looking for personal information from anyone. But "we didn't ask" is a thin answer, so there's a real one underneath it.

When the device tells us a player is under 13 (through Apple's Declared Age Range, which parents control in Family Sharing), Graze changes what it does, on its own:

  • No ads. Not fewer, not gentler ones. The advertising SDK is never started, so there is nothing to see and nothing to report back.
  • No tracking request. The permission prompt is never shown, because there is no version of the answer we would act on.
  • No analytics, no crash reporting. Both off, so nothing about how they play leaves the phone.
  • Nothing worse to play. The extras that are normally paid for by watching an ad are simply given: free continues, and coins that can be claimed each day.

None of that needs setting up. There's no switch to find, no account to make, and no box to tick. It happens the moment the device answers, and a parent who has set up Family Sharing has already done the work.

If the device doesn't answer, or a player declines to share, nothing is assumed either way and the game behaves as it does for everybody else. We would rather act on something a parent set up than on a guess.
